Chicagoland Wild Quakers

This is an organization dedicated to the rescue of wild Quaker Parakeets in the Chicago metro area. As ComEd and other utilities clear nests from their transformers I take the eggs/babies incubate, handfeed, socialize, and find good homes for them. The babies hatch out in May and are weaned by late July and August. These birds are very capable of speech with surprising comprehension and show a wide emotional range. They are very smart, friendly, extremely lovable, but can also be very territorial, and loud.
